The federal state of Carinthia makes the digitalization of care a state matter and decides to promote voize across the board to relieve the burden on care staff. The state covers around 60% of the costs. This makes Carinthia a pioneer in both Austria and Germany.
By significantly facilitating the implementation of innovative, digital solutions for care providers, the state government is consistently working to improve conditions in the care sector. In Austria, voize has already been in use at Diakonie de la Tour facilities since February. "We are delighted. No more tedious documentation. We simply speak into the smartphone and the AI automatically creates the correctly structured entries in our existing documentation system," explains nurse Monika Herrnegger. The positive feedback from the provider has now led to the government decision. Provincial Councillor Beate Prettner commented:
The care sector is struggling with a staff shortage across Europe. Solutions need to be found on several levels to compensate for the shortage. We also see a certain potential in the use of artificial intelligence. How can we make sensible use of digitalization in nursing care? To this end, we are testing various systems that actually reduce the workload for employees. Everyone was enthusiastic about this voice-controlled documentation system: it saves time and improves the quality of documentation.
From 2024, voize is to be used in all retirement and nursing homes in Carinthia. "The state will cover around 62 percent of the costs for nationwide implementation. That amounts to 600,000 euros for 2024," said Provincial Councillor Beate Prettner. Such a broad implementation and promotion of nursing language documentation by a state government is unprecedented and a major step forward in the digitalization of care.
