Every year, the economic administrations of the two states of Berlin and Brandenburg honor innovative and outstanding entrepreneurial work with the Innovation Award. The jury selected five winners from 155 submissions and awarded a special prize.
Whether sustainable road construction, modular small wind turbines, a robot for surface coatings or a lifesaver for the wrist - together with this year's award winners, voize with its digital voice assistant is one of the start-ups from the capital region that tackle highly topical issues with extraordinary, innovative solutions. The jury explained at the award ceremony that the innovations of this year's award winners are characterized by their particular social relevance. Jury chairman Prof. Oliver Günther, Ph.D. said:
"This year's award winners have their finger on the pulse of the times. Sustainability, care and the shortage of skilled workers are topics that our award-winning innovators are tackling with their developments."
voize was created to relieve the pressure on nursing staff, who are already under great physical and mental strain due to the prevailing shortage of skilled workers in their profession. The observation that care staff spend a lot of time documenting care reports, vital signs or drinking protocols on the PC instead of spending time with the residents gave voize founders Fabio Schmidberger, Erik Ziegler and Marcel Schmidberger the idea for the voize app.

There is a major shortage of skilled workers in the care sector in particular. And the number of people in need of care will continue to rise. Time for those in need of care is often in short supply in day-to-day care due to time-consuming documentation. This innovation makes care documentation simpler, faster and more accurate. This gives nursing staff more time for those in need of care.

Using artificial intelligence (AI), the app makes it possible to simply speak in the documentation: "Mrs. Schneider has a blood pressure of 120 over 75" - that's enough. The AI then creates the correct entry and transfers it to the existing documentation system via an interface.
Speech recognition takes place directly on the device, not in the cloud. It therefore meets the high data protection requirements and can also be used without the internet. voize's AI learns with every input and is constantly evolving. Laudator Kerstin Jöntgen said at the award ceremony: "The practicality of the app, which also works offline, which even recognizes dialects, with which images can be recorded and curves can also be mapped, is particularly impressive."
With voize, we want to create good working conditions and more time for human contact between carers and those being cared for. Technological innovations can ease the burden of day-to-day care and are therefore an important step in countering the shortage of skilled workers in the care sector. We would like to use the award to draw attention to the need for better working conditions in the care sector.
